    What will you do?

    Porto's Cathedral

The Porto Cathedral, constructed in the 12th century under the leadership of D. Hugo, is a significant landmark that served as the city's first line of defense. Also known as the church of Santa Maria do Porto, de Nossa Senhora do Porto da Eterna Salvação, or Nossa Senhora da Vandoma, this temple is a testament to the importance of the Marian cult. During our guided tour, you'll learn about the history of Porto and Portugal and appreciate the building's impressive exterior architecture while taking in breathtaking views of the river and the wine cellars in Gaia. You'll also have the chance to explore the oldest part of the city and see its characteristic houses.

    Sao Bento Train Station

The train station's hall is adorned with beautiful Portuguese tiles, known as azulejos, with over 20,000 of them used in the mural. Our tour expert will guide you through the different themes of the decoration, such as history, religion, and scenes from Portuguese urban and rural life. The station's façade is another remarkable architectural landmark in Porto, making it a must-see for all art lovers.

Porto City Centre World UNESCO Heritage

From the comfort of our minibus, we will take you on a panoramic tour through the Historic Centre of Porto. This area has retained its unique urban characteristics from the Middle Ages, making it distinct from other European cities. Our tour expert will point out and explain the most remarkable buildings, monuments, streets and avenues such as Porto Cathedral, S. Bento Train Station, Santa Catarina commercial street with its renowned Café Majestic, Aliados Avenue, Stockage Market House of Porto, Church of Saint Francis, Church and Tower dos Clérigos, Lello Irmão Bookstore, Ribeira, D. Luis I Bridge, and Port Wine Cellars.

    Bookstore Livraria Lello & Irmão

The library building was opened in 1906 and features a stunning Art Nouveau façade with neo-Gothic details. Inside, visitors can admire the painted plaster that imitates wood and the magnificent staircase linking the floors, which was one of the first reinforced concrete works in Porto. The library also has a fascinating connection to Harry Potter, as J.K. Rowling is rumored to have found inspiration for her novels in the neo-Gothic and Art Nouveau interior during her time teaching English in the city.

    Church and Tower of Clérigos

The Church of Clérigos is an iconic baroque monument in Porto, designed by the Italian architect Nicolau Nasoni in the mid-18th century. Nasoni left his mark on many other buildings in the city and the north of Portugal. A small chapel at the top of the double bolster stairway holds Nasoni's grave, fulfilling his own request.

    D. Luís I Bridge

The completion of Dom Luís I Bridge in 1886 made it the metal bridge with the longest span in the world. The impressive iron structure was designed by a student of Gustave Eiffel, who also designed the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The bridge serves as a connection between the city and Vila Nova de Gaia, where the famous Port Wine cellars can be found.

    Port Wine Cellars

Let's explore the Port Wine Lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia, where Port cellars are located across the Douro River. For centuries, Port wine has been aging in wooden barrels here. Experience the unique process of creating this remarkable fortified wine on a guided tour by an expert. Learn about the different types of Port wines and their history before concluding the tour with a tasting of two select Port wines.

    Traditional lunch in a restaurant

It's time to head back to Porto, and what better way to continue the day than with a satisfying lunch? If you've opted for the lunch package, our knowledgeable tour guide will take you to a traditional restaurant where you'll get to indulge in some of the most delicious and authentic local cuisine, with drinks included. You can choose from two classic options - the famous "francesinha" (a hearty meat sandwich), or a delicious fish dish. For those who haven't chosen the lunch package, you'll have some free time to explore the city on your own and enjoy some personal activities.

    Six Bridges Douro Cruise

After lunch, get ready to capture stunning views of Porto and Gaia from the Douro River on a 50-minute cruise aboard a traditional "Rabelo" boat. As you sail through the UNESCO-listed river, you'll encounter various bridges, each with their own unique architecture and personality, providing a picturesque backdrop for your photos. This river cruise is a one-of-a-kind experience that allows you to fully appreciate the beauty of Northern Portugal.

Panoramic sightseeing through Foz, Boavista Avenue and main contemporay buildings

We will complete our Porto tour by exploring the city's modern side. First, we will make a short stop at Foz, the Atlantic Ocean coast where you can admire the beautiful Castle of Cheese and the stunning lighthouse. Then, we will return through the contemporary part of the city, Boavista, where you can witness the skyline marked by innovative buildings, including the iconic Casa da Música by Rem Koolhaas. Our tour expert will provide a final farewell and take you back to the meeting point or your accommodation if selected.
